Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell has praised his side's character after they came from behind to draw 1-1 with high-flying Middlesbrough.

Lukas Jutkiewicz put Middlesbrough ahead just after the hour mark, but Grant Leadbitter fired in an impressive equaliser, making up for a missed penalty earlier in the match.

Jewell was unhappy with his side's first-half display, but believes that they showed good resilience to claim a point.

"In the first half we were very flat and couldn't get any momentum going, we looked a big jaded. Eight games in a month is a punishing schedule and it took the penalty miss to breathe life into us," said the former Wigan manager.

"Then we went behind but showed good character and resilience to equalise. It would have been easy to feel sorry for ourselves.

"There were a lot of our players who didn't have their best game tonight but we've got something from the game, against a very good team. They've got the best away record in the division and will be right up there at the end of the season."

Ipswich are currently enjoying some of the best form in the league, having picked up nine points from their last six games.
