Michael Chopra stresses that he will not leave Ipswich Town on a loan deal this summer.

Ipswich Town striker Michael Chopra has insisted that he will not leave the club on loan this summer.

Manager Mick McCarthy has put the 29-year-old up for sale, even though he made 35 appearances in all competitions last season.

Reports have linked the former Newcastle United centre-forward with a loan switch away from Portman Road, but while responding to questions on Twitter, Chopra claimed that he would only leave on a permanent deal.

"Yeh I do want to play every week but not as a loan player," he wrote. "Won't be going on loan I'm 29 not 17 anymore."

He went on to reveal that potential suitors would have to match the wages that he currently receives from Ipswich: "Why would I take a pay cut just coz I'm a footballer people expect me 2 would anyone else who's not a footballer take one?"

Chopra joined Ipswich in 2011 from Cardiff City.
