Mario Balotelli expected to be fit for Italy

Cesare Prandelli expects Mario Balotelli to be fit for Italy's Euro 2012 opener against Spain on Sunday.

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli believes that Mario Balotelli will be fit enough to start his side's Euro 2012 opener against Spain on Sunday.

The Manchester City striker's participation had been thrown into doubt after he missed a recent training session because of an abductor complaint.

However, Prandelli expects to have the 21-year-old at his disposal against the holders.

"Balotelli, as well as Christian Maggio, has an adductor strain," Prandelli told reporters.

"But it's nothing serious. He will probably be ready for the first match."

Balotelli has made eight appearances for the Azzurri.
