Giuseppe Marotta: 'Juan Cuadrado can be like Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez'

Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta predicts on-loan Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado can emulate the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez in Turin.

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has backed Juan Cuadrado to follow in the footsteps of Carlos Tevez and Andrea Pirlo by defying fans' expectations during his stay.

The winger joined on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea after struggling to adapt to the Premier League following a £27m January move from Fiorentina.

Marotta brought controversial Manchester City striker Tevez to Turin in a £12m deal in 2013, along with a 31-year-old Pirlo on a Bosman two years prior, with the duo winning six Serie A titles between them since.

"I do see comparisons between the arrival of Cuadrado and those of Tevez and Andrea Pirlo, as they too were signed amid scepticism and did great things," he told Corriere dello Sport.

The Bianconeri, who have lost their opening two Serie A outings, host AC Chievo Verona on Saturday as Cuadrado could earn a full debut.
