Juventus finish season in style

Juventus round off their Serie A campaign with a 3-0 win over Cagliari Calcio.

Italian champions Juventus rounded off their Serie A campaign with a 3-0 win over Cagliari Calcio this afternoon.

All three goals arrived in the first period, with Andrea Pirlo, Fernando Llorente and Claudio Marchisio on the scoresheet.

The first half-chance of the match fell to the home side after just four minutes, but Carlos Tevez saw his effort saved by Marco Silvestri in the Cagliari goal.

Pirlo tried his luck from distance moments later, but the Italian fired high and wide. The veteran midfielder did not have to wait long to make his mark, however, with the 34-year-old bending a free kick into the top corner with nine minutes on the clock.

It was 2-0 just six minutes later when Llorente capitalised on some poor Cagliari defending before finding the bottom corner.

Cagliari had the opportunity to cut the deficit to just one goal after 22 minutes, but Daniele Dessena was denied by a smart save from Gianluigi Buffon from close range.

Juventus had their third five minutes before the interval, however, when Marchisio found the top corner from outside the box. Kwadwo Asamoah and Tevez both came close to adding to the score in the latter stages of the half, but the score remained at 3-0.

Alessandro Bastrini came close for the away side just before the hour mark, but his effort was high and wide of the crossbar as Juventus continued to control possession of the ball.

Paul Pogba came close to scoring the home side's fourth after 62 minutes, but his effort was straight at the goalkeeper.

Agim Ibraimi was next to come close for Cagliari in their best spell of the second period, but the 25-year-old could not find the target with little over 20 minutes of football remaining.

Chances remained few and far between in the latter stages as the champions Juventus claimed their 33rd league win of the season. Cagliari, meanwhile, ended their campaign in 15th position.
