LA Galaxy progress to the final of the MLS Western Conference after defeating the New York Red Bulls.

The Los Angeles Galaxy have progressed to the final of the MLS Western Conference after defeating the New York Red Bulls 2-1 last night.

Luke Rodgers put the Red Bulls ahead early on, before David Beckham set up a Mike Magee goal from a corner.

Former Everton midfielder Landon Donovan netted a penalty in the 74th minute to seal the 2-1 victory.

"I haven't even thought about what's next after this," said Beckham after the match. "Right now, I'm just thinking about the moment and winning a championship."

"We started off badly. It wasn't what we planned.

"The way we adjusted ourselves showed the character of this team."

The Galaxy face Real Salt Lake on Sunday in a rematch of the 2009 MLS Cup.
