Saturday's Championship predictions including Leeds United vs. Southampton

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Leeds United vs. Southampton.

Birmingham vs. Norwich (Saturday, 12.30pm)

With the Championship campaign entering its final act, Birmingham City have one final chance to avoid relegation to League One as Norwich City visit St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park on Saturday afternoon.

Blues frustratingly shared the spoils at fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town last time, whilst the Canaries took a point from their meeting with Swansea City.

We say: Birmingham City 1-0 Norwich City

Birmingham have a way of escaping relegation at the last moment, and we reckon that it could be another memorable day at St Andrew's for the hosts.

Norwich's away record has been poor this term, and with the playoffs essentially confirmed, there could be a drop in performance levels from the Canaries.

Coventry vs. QPR (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Aiming to address their woeful run of form at the end of this campaign, Coventry City will welcome Queens Park Rangers to the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

The Sky Blues are running on empty as an emotionally-draining spell of fixtures draws to a close, whilst the R's will be in a celebratory mood after securing their second-tier safety last week.

We say: Coventry City 2-1 Queens Park Rangers

Coventry's performance levels have fallen off a cliff since the FA Cup defeat to Man United, but we reckon that the Sky Blues will rise to the moment on the final day in front of their home faithful.

QPR had their joyous occasions last Friday when they destroyed Leeds, and we feel that the R's will be off the boil in the West Midlands, resulting in defeat.

Ipswich vs. Huddersfield (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Ipswich Town's Kieffer Moore celebrates scoring their first goal with teammates on April 30, 2024© Reuters

Ipswich Town play host to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon knowing that a draw will secure promotion to the Premier League.

At a time when the Tractor Boys are on the brink of finishing in second place in the Championship standings, Huddersfield are all but relegated courtesy of their inferior goal difference compared to their rivals.

We say: Ipswich Town 3-1 Huddersfield Town

While there is still potential for this to prove to be an extremely nervy afternoon for the Tractor Boys, we expect them to come through with flying colours. A fast start can make all the difference, something that we expect to materialise in what could be a routine win.

Leeds vs. Southampton (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke reacts on February 24, 2024© Reuters

Leeds United square off against Southampton on Saturday afternoon know that only a win will do if they want to retain hope of automatic promotion from the Championship.

At a time when Leeds are third in the standings, Southampton are fourth, albeit six points adrift of their hosts at Elland Road.

We say: Leeds United 2-2 Southampton

Regardless of whether automatic promotion is achievable or not, Leeds need to treat this fixture as a normal game in a bid to rediscover some form. Southampton have been poor themselves, yet we feel that the Saints will do enough to earn a share of the spoils in an entertaining encounter.

Leicester vs. Blackburn (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Leicester City will be bidding to reach the 100-point mark when the already-crowned Championship winners play host to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

At a time when the Foxes are guaranteed first place in the standings, Blackburn need a point from their trip to the King Power Stadium to secure their survival in the second tier.

We say: Leicester City 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

This will be an afternoon of celebration for Leicester, yet their players know that they have a job to do on the pitch. Blackburn could do enough to earn a share of the spoils, but if results elsewhere are going their way, Leicester may be able to edge a winner in the closing stages.

Middlesbrough vs. Watford (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick reacts on March 12, 2024© Reuters

Middlesbrough play host to Watford on Saturday afternoon looking for the win that will secure eighth position in the Championship standings.

Meanwhile, the Hornets make the long trip to the Riverside Stadium aware that failure to prevail in the North-East could see them drop to 16th place.

We say: Middlesbrough 1-1 Watford

While this has the potential to be a low-key affair, both managers will want to end on a high ahead of next season. Watford beat one North-East side last weekend, yet we feel that a share of the spoils is most likely here.

Plymouth vs. Hull City (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Plymouth Argyle will welcome Hull City to Home Park on Saturday in the final round of regular-season fixtures in a meeting of major importance in the fights at both ends of the Championship table.

The hosts need a victory to guarantee their survival in England's second tier, while their visitors trail the final playoff place by two points.

We say: Plymouth Argyle 0-2 Hull City

With momentum on their side and more quality throughout their squad, we back Hull City to pick up a crucial away victory on the final day, leaving their playoff hopes hanging on a defeat for West Bromwich Albion.

Rotherham vs. Cardiff (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Aiming to bow out of the Championship on a high following the confirmation of their relegation to League One, Rotherham United will welcome Cardiff City to the New York Stadium on Saturday in the final round of league fixtures this season.

The hosts are confined to a 24th-placed finish having only collected 24 points thus far, while their visitors are guaranteed a top-half place and can move as high as ninth on the final day depending on other results.

We say: Rotherham United 1-3 Cardiff City

Rotherham United may play with a degree of freedom given their standing and fresh start under Evans, while the visitors are without large parts of their squad due to injuries, but we still see the Bluebirds being too strong for the hosts at the weekend and fancy them to end on a high with a three-point haul in South Yorkshire.

Stoke vs. Bristol City (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Both looking to end their respective campaigns on a positive note, Stoke City and Bristol City will clash at the bet365 Stadium on the final day of the Championship season on Saturday afternoon.

The Potters secured an eye-catching maximum at Premier League-chasing Southampton last time out, whilst the Robins eased past whipping boys Rotherham United.

We say: Stoke City 2-2 Bristol City

With both teams having their Championship statuses confirmed for next season, we could see a free-flowing contest at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

Stoke and Bristol City are both enjoying a fruitful run of form, and we reckon that the pair will play out an entertaining four-goal thriller to draw the curtain on their campaigns.

Sunderland vs. Sheff Weds (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Needing a point to guarantee their Championship survival, Sheffield Wednesday will head to the Stadium of Light to meet Sunderland on the final day of the season on Saturday.

The visitors have jumped out of the drop zone with a crucial upturn in form in recent weeks, while their hosts can climb up to 13th spot with a return to winning ways in their last outing of the campaign.

We say: Sunderland 0-2 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday head up to the Stadium of Light with plenty of momentum and the desire to guarantee their safety with another statement result, and against a Sunderland team limping to the end of the season, we back Rohl's side to make it three wins on the bounce.

Swansea vs. Millwall (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Two sides separated by a single point in the bottom half of the Championship table will do battle in the final round of games of the season on Saturday, as Swansea City welcome Millwall to South Wales.

The teams will battle for 13th place in the second tier having both guaranteed their safety in recent weeks.

We say: Swansea City 1-1 Millwall

Both sides will head into the final day with plenty of confidence thanks to their recent improvements, and the desire to end on a win and wrap up 13th spot, and we cannot quite pick a winner as a result, instead opting for a low-scoring draw between two in-form teams.

West Brom vs. Preston (Saturday, 12.30pm)

West Bromwich Albion's manager Carlos Corberan on April 20, 2024© Reuters

With their place in the playoffs yet to be confirmed, West Bromwich Albion will require a positive result from their meeting with Preston North End at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

The Baggies are stumbling towards the top-six finishing line as the campaign draws to a close, whilst the Lilywhites are marooned in mid-table amid a poor run of form.

We say: West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Preston North End

West Brom's stellar record at The Hawthorns suggests a comfortable win for the hosts on Saturday, but it could become an intense affair for the Baggies should Hull score early on at Plymouth Argyle.

Preston are stumbling towards the second-tier finishing line, and we cannot envisage the Lilywhites disrupting Albion's top-six ambitions in this one.
