Leeds United have progressed to the second round of the League Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
Luciano Becchio gave the hosts the lead from inside the six-yard box after just 20 minutes, and then six minutes later Luke Varney doubled their advantage.
Leeds continued to dominate the game and went 3-0 up midway through the second half when David Norris found the target from the edge of the Shrewsbury penalty box.
Then on 70 minutes Neil Warnock's side were awarded a penalty following a handball offence from Michael Hector, and Ross McCormack successfully converted the spot-kick.
The victory marks a successful start to the new season for Leeds, who will begin their Championship campaign with a home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, August 18.
