Ipswich Town are reportedly entering discussions over personal terms with Ryan Kent, after current club Fenerbahce accepted a £2.5m bid from the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich Town have reportedly moved closer to the signing of Fenerbahce attacker Ryan Kent.

The 27-year-old moved to the Turkish Super Lig last summer from Scottish powerhouses Rangers and has since featured in just 19 games, scoring on a single occasion.

Kent only managed a solitary start in the league for the Yellow Canaries last campaign, being restricted to just 139 minutes of Super Lig action.

The Englishman has played the majority of his professional matches to date at Rangers, for whom he represented 175 times, finding the net on 27 occasions.

Starting his career at Liverpool as part of the Under-19s, Kent has plenty of footballing pedigree despite being out of favour at Fenerbache.

Ipswich have bid accepted for Fenerbahce's Kent?

According to Turkish outlet Haber Ekspres, Ipswich are moving closer to securing the services of former Liverpool man Kent before the end of the summer window.

The report claims that the newly-promoted Tractors Boys have had a £2.5m bid for the 27-year-old accepted, jumping the first obstacle of a potential deal.

It is understood that Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho does not have Kent in the club's first-team plans this season, meaning that the winger is available for a transfer away.

The player and Ipswich are now set to discuss personal terms, and if all is agreed, the attacker will fly to England in the coming days for medical checks.

It is believed that the Tractor Boys have beaten high-profile competitors to the signature of Kent, including Leeds United, who are on the lookout for a Crysencio Summerville replacement.

Ipswich are fighting to survive in the market

Back in the Premier League for the first time in over two decades, Ipswich are desperate to avoid an immediate return to the stresses of the Championship.

As a result, Kieran McKenna's side have been proactive in the summer window, with a number of the second tier's top performer such as Conor Townsend and Jacob Greaves arriving.

The capture of Kent would represent a different profile of acquisition for Ipswich, who will require plenty strings to their bow if they wish to avoid a bottom-three finish.

After a final dress rehearsal against Ligue 1 outfit Nice on Saturday, the East Anglians will commence their Premier League campaign at Portman Road versus Liverpool on August 17.
