Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater praises Jamie Vardy's work ethic

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater hails the attitude of Jamie Vardy in his hunt for the Premier League record for scoring in successive matches.

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has hailed the work ethic of striker Jamie Vardy following his Premier League record-equalling strike against Newcastle United.

The 28-year-old drew level with Ruud van Nistelrooy's record by scoring in his 10th successive match in the top flight when he found the net in his side's 3-0 win over the Magpies at St James' Park.

Drinkwater believes that Vardy's attitude has not changed in his pursuit of the feat, and is only focused on driving the team to success in the Premier League this season.

He told the club's official website: "The three points were massive and Vards as well carrying on with his record. Fair play to him he's doing brilliantly and the lads will keep supporting him in everything we do.

"I don't think he thinks about [the streak] when he crosses the white line. He just knuckles down to his game and enjoys his football. The more he gets, the better.

"He's working hard for the team as well as getting his goals so you won't see any lads in the dressing room questioning anything about him. On the pitch he's a great lad to play with and he's definitely the difference. He's a big character in the dressing room, has the jokes but he's a good lad and most importantly he does the business on the pitch."

Vardy can break the Premier League record by scoring in his 11th successive match when the Foxes play Manchester United on Saturday.
