Jamie Vardy: 'Do not write off Leicester City title challenge'

Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy claims that his team have the credentials to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has claimed that his team will be "there or thereabouts" at the top of the Premier League table come the end of the season if they continue their high performance levels.

The Foxes have been the surprise package in England's top flight this season and are currently second in the table, just two points behind Arsenal.

It has been doubted whether Leicester can replicate their form from the first half of the campaign, but Vardy, who has 15 league goals this season, is confident that his side can challenge for the title.

"You have seen what is going on at this club, it is building in a way they want to be challenging at the top all the time," he told the Leicester Mercury. "We have reached 40 points. That is what the boss wanted us to achieve first and we have done that now and will see what his next objective is.

"We just want to keep doing as well as we have been doing and take each game as it comes – who knows, if we have another second half of the season like the first we will be there or thereabouts.

"That is how this league has been up to now. It would be brilliant [to finish in the top four] but we will just be doing exactly what we have been doing, which is looking to the next game."

Leicester have only lost two of their 20 league matches this season.
