Leicester City striker Islam Slimani could make his loan spell at Monaco a permanent one for only £7.8m, according to a report.

The Algerian has been with the principality club since the start of the season and he has starred for Leonardo Jardim's side, scoring five and creating another six in just seven appearances.

Slimani was Leicester's record signing back in 2016, when they paid £29m to bring him in from Sporting Lisbon, but he struggled to adjust to the team's multiple managerial changes, spending time on loan in recent seasons with Newcastle United and Fenerbahce.

While it was suggested that Monaco could sign the 31-year-old for essentially a quarter of that fee, Sky Sports News reports that the Premier League side are expecting a much higher sum.

Slimani, who is Algeria's second highest scorer of all time in international football, has made 47 appearances for Leicester since moving to the King Power Stadium, netting 13 times in all competitions.
