Preview: Leicester Women vs. Tottenham Hotspur Ladies - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Leicester Women and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Leicester Women will look to end a four-game winless run when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur Ladies to the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are experiencing a fine spell of form after avoiding defeat in each of their last six matches.

After beginning the campaign with a four-game unbeaten run, Leicester have experienced a downturn in fortunes in recent weeks.

Since playing out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United, the Foxes have gone on to lose three consecutive games against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Leicester boss Willie Kirk would have been particularly disappointed with last Sunday's defeat to Arsenal after seeing his side give away a two-goal lead.

Sam Tierney and Janice Cayman both got on the scoresheet to give Leicester the half-time advantage, but they capitulated after the break, conceding six times to lose by a four-goal margin.

Despite suffering a demoralising 6-2 defeat, seventh-placed Leicester still possess a four-point cushion to the one and only relegation place.

Since losing to Chelsea on the opening day of the season, Tottenham have embarked on an impressive run of form, having put together a six-game unbeaten across all competitions (W4, D2).

After recording four straight victories, Robert Vilahamn's side have gone on to play out consecutive 1-1 draws against Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool.

Vilahamn would have been frustrated to see his side give up leads in both of those contests, including last weekend's home meeting with the Reds, where Celin Bizet's opener was cancelled out by Aurora Galli.

While they may have missed out on two more victories, Tottenham will be pleased to be sitting in fourth place with just a point separating them from the top three.

Having won all four of their WSL meetings with Leicester, Spurs will certainly head into Sunday's fixture in confident mood.

Team News

Leicester are expected to be without Shannon O'Brien for the next two months after the 22-year-old recently sustained a quadriceps injury.

Deanne Rose, who was forced off at half time last weekend, has been ruled out of the Spurs clash with a hamstring problem.

With Rose unable to take her place in the side, Kirk could recall Missy Goodwin to the starting lineup for Sunday's home meeting.

As for the visitors, captain Bethany England remains unavailable as she continues her rehabilitation following hip surgery.

In his pre-match press conference, Vilahamn revealed that Olga Ahtinen will be out until the new year after she suffered a knee injury last weekend.

Meanwhile, Ahtinen's Finland teammate Eveliina Summanen will make her first appearance since signing a new contract until June 2026.

Leicester Women possible starting lineup:
Leitzig; Bott, Thibaud, Howard, Nevin; Tierney, Rantala; Goodwin, Cayman, Cain; Petermann

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Spencer; James, Buhler, Bartrip, Neville; Clinton, Graham, Summanen; Bizet, Naz, Thomas

We say: Leicester Women 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies

Tottenham have had to settle for draws in their last two games, but we think that they will return to winning ways against a Leicester side low on confidence after losing three consecutive matches.
