Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including Saint-Etienne vs. Marseille

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Saint-Etienne vs. Marseille.

Lens vs. Montpellier (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Lens will be looking to bounce back from their recent Ligue 1 home defeat by Marseille when they host bottom Montpellier HSC at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Sunday's gameweek 14 match.

The seventh-placed side aim to exploit their struggling opponents' wretched start to 2024-25 and extend La Paillade's winless road results (six defeats).

We say: Lens 2-0 Montpellier HSC

Montpellier have fired blanks in four of their six away games this term, scoring three times and conceding 17. Despite Lens' inconsistency on home soil, they should claim a third victory at Stade Bollaert-Delelis at La Paillade's expense.

Strasbourg vs. Reims (Sunday, 4.00pm)

Strasbourg could slide into the relegation spots this weekend if they lose to a ninth-placed Reims side four places above them in the Ligue 1 table heading into Sunday's gameweek 14 clash at Stade de la Meinau.

Liam Rosenoir's men have lost four on the trot, leaving them looking over their shoulders after an unwanted sequence they aim to halt against an opponent with superior results on their travels in 2024-25.

We say: Strasbourg 1-1 Reims

Sunday's match is close to call, given that Strasbourg have won once in the last five (four losses), and Reims have done likewise, albeit losing three. Thus, a stalemate could be in the offing between these two clubs, whose performances have been mixed to underwhelming.

Nantes vs. Rennes (Sunday, 4.00pm)

Seeking to end a 10-match winless run in Ligue 1, Nantes return to Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday for a date with Rennes.

Despite a 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain last weekend, La Maison Jaune sit in a relegation position, second from the bottom, while an emphatic 5-0 victory over Saint-Etienne lifted Stade Rennais into 12th.

We say: Nantes 0-2 Rennes

As poor as Rennes have been away from Roazhon Park throughout the campaign, Nantes have struggled just as much, if not more so, at home.

Last weekend's big victory should remind Stade Rennais that they boast plenty of quality attacking pieces, which we believe will cause problems for the home team on Sunday.

St Etienne vs. Marseille (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Aiming to bounce back following a damaging defeat last time out, Saint-Etienne will welcome title-chasing Marseille to Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday night for a Ligue 1 match.

Les Verts were smashed by five goals at the home of Rennes at the end of November, whilst Les Olympiens recorded a much-needed home success over fellow high-flyers Monaco.

We say: Saint-Etienne 1-2 Marseille

The best travellers in Ligue 1 so far, Marseille will have no doubt of their ability to ease past the attentions of newly-promoted Saint-Etienne this weekend.

Les Verts have an impressive home record for a club new to this level, but we cannot envisage Les Olympiens dropping points at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
