Project Restart: Everton's remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing Merseyside outfit Everton.

Although Carlo Ancelotti has undoubtedly improved Everton since his arrival in December, the Toffees had lost momentum when football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Just one point was picked up in fixtures against Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea respectively, leaving the club in 12th position in the table.

Although Ancelotti and his side still have ambitions to claim a European place, they must first get the win on the board which should ensure that they do not have any lingering concerns regarding relegation.

They will hope that the three points in question can come against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on June 21, with that result also denying their neighbours the chance to claim the Premier League title.

The first away game out of lockdown takes the club to East Anglia for a meeting with bottom-of-the-table team Norwich City, before Leicester City are the visitors to Goodison Park.

Either side of meetings with Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers on their travels, Everton welcome Southampton to the North-West for a game in which they will expect to register maximum points.

The same will apply to their closing home contests against Aston Villa and Bournemouth, opponents who may still be attempting to avoid the drop in the second half of July.

However, Everton may find themselves requiring a result at Sheffield United on the penultimate week of the campaign to achieve a spot in the top half of the table or higher.
