Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Everton

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton.

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from their shock 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa last time out when they travel to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds incredibly conceded seven times at Villa Park on October 4, with the result ending their three-game winning run at the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's side now face a trip to league leaders Everton, who have collected 12 points from their opening four matches of the 2020-21 season during an impressive start.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the Merseyside derby, which is shaping up to be a fascinating encounter at Goodison Park.

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Everton)

Kostas Tsimikas picked up a thigh problem during the EFL Cup win over Lincoln last month and has not been involved since. As a result, the Greece international remains a major doubt for the Merseyside derby.

Joel Matip

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Everton)

Joel Matip has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with a muscular issue, but the centre-back has returned to full training this week and could in theory be involved against Carlo Ancelotti's team.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to battle back from the knee injury that he picked up during pre-season. The England international has made steps forward in his recovery, but this weekend's clash will come too soon.

Naby Keita

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Everton)

Naby Keita was believed to have tested positive for coronavirus while away on international duty with Guinea, but it is understood that the midfielder returned a false result. Keita will now undergo another test ahead of this weekend's clash, and he could yet be involved for Klopp's side. Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara are also both available after serving their self-isolation periods.

Alisson Becker

Possible return date: Unknown

Liverpool will be without their number one goalkeeper Alisson Becker for the next four to six weeks due to a shoulder problem that he picked up in training. Adrian, who conceded seven against Villa last time out, is set to continue in goal this weekend, while the Spaniard could keep his spot until the end of November.
