Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Thiago Alcantara will be forced to miss the club's upcoming friendly battles with Bologna due to a minor injury.
The former Bayern Munich man is back in training with the Reds after his Euro 2020 exploits, with Klopp's side preparing to face Bologna in two hour-long exhibition matches on Thursday.
However, Thiago will not be given the chance to build up his match fitness against the Serie A side due to injury, but Klopp is optimistic that the Spain international will be fit for the opening weekend of the Premier League.
Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: "Thiago came here with a slight issue. He has three weeks off and the slight issue is still [there], which he was feeling.
"We don't take any risks. He's part of parts of training and in these little things he looks great, but it's more the longer distances where he struggles slightly.
"We have to make sure that will be sorted and we are on it. I think he will be in next week, [at the] latest, in full training."
Thiago only made four substitute appearances for Spain at the European Championship, while he missed 21 games for Liverpool last term due to coronavirus and a serious knee injury.
