Andre Villas-Boas says that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a complaint against Charlie Adam but he insists that they are "extremely relieved" to have Gareth Bale fit.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has claimed that he is "extremely relieved" after learning that Gareth Bale will be fit for the new Premier League season.

The Wales international suffered an injury scare after Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam tackled the winger during a 0-0 draw in a pre-season friendly in Baltimore.

The 23-year-old later hit out against the Scotsman, labelling him a "coward".

"Needless to say, we are extremely relieved Gareth has not been seriously injured," said Villas-Boas. "There is previous history between the two players on the challenge that was done I think three years ago.

"Will we take it any further? We are discussing it within the club but in my opinion, the matter is dealt. But it would be extremely human for Charlie to come out with an apology. But you can't force people to say anything and we will have to wait and see."

Bale was declared fit following a scan with the Spurs medical team.
