Fabio Borini determined to fight for Liverpool place

Fabio Borini says that he is 'passionate' about playing regularly following his goal for Liverpool in last weekend's victory over Aston Villa.

Fabio Borini has insisted that he is determined to gain more first-team football at Liverpool after scoring in the team's last Premier League match.

The Italian opened the scoring in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend, but has struggled to secure a permanent place in Brendan Rodgers's XI.

The Reds were open to offloading Borini last summer, with Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers touted as options, but the striker refused a transfer to remain on Merseyside.

"It's nice to be involved, more than probably everyone expected since the beginning of the season," Borini told the club's official website. "I am enjoying playing and I can give my help to the team with goals, performances and hard work. It's enjoyable.

"When you're out [of the team] for a long time and you get a little bit [of action], you get a taste and want to be involved in every game and try to score.

"That's what gives me the passion - you get a little bit and you want more. I'm a player that always wants to play, even if I only had one leg!"

Borini joined Liverpool in 2012.
