Emre Can: 'Liverpool at the start of a new era'

Emre Can believes that Liverpool are starting a "new era" due to Brendan Rodgers's young team.

Liverpool's Emre Can believes that there are "good years ahead" for the club as manager Brendan Rodgers is building a young team.

The Merseyside outfit went 13 games unbeaten in the Premier League, but were recently halted by Manchester United following a 2-1 defeat at Anfield.

While the Reds are still in contention for a Champions League spot, last weekend's result has made that achievement harder to reach as there is now a five-point gap between themselves and fourth-placed United.

"I definitely feel we're at the start of a new era," Can told the club's official website. "It's a very, very young team with Phillippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson and Lazar Markovic.

"But I think the team needs to keep improving, and continue doing what we're doing at the moment to get to these years. But I believe there are good years ahead."

Liverpool's next fixture after the international break is away to Arsenal.
