Jamie Carragher: 'Everton have edge over Liverpool in Merseyside derby'

Jamie Carragher believes that Everton "have the edge" over Liverpool ahead of this Sunday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Everton are favourites to get one over on Liverpool when the Merseyside rivals go head to head at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Everton are unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches and sit fifth in the table, while Liverpool reside ninth in the standings.

Liverpool managed to claim a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa in their last outing, but Carragher believes that due to current form, Everton have the momentum.

"The way Liverpool have been playing this season compared to Everton, I think Everton have the edge, and it is at Goodison obviously, which is in their favour," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"I can imagine the atmosphere now - the atmosphere is always good there in a derby game, but I think the roof is going to come off when the two teams come out, which puts it in Everton's favour."

Everton have beaten Liverpool just once in 17 meetings.
