Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Jamie Carragher would make a good manager'

Sir Alex Ferguson says that former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has the "material" to make a "good manager" one day.

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has backed ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher to become a "good manager" one day.

Carragher, who spent 17 years playing for Ferguson's arch rivals, became a pundit for Sky Sports shortly after retiring from football in 2013.

The 37-year-old opted for a career in the media, but Ferguson believes that the former centre-back would thrive in the dugout.

"Obviously he's in television but I think he'd make a good manager, I really do," Ferguson told Sky Sports News. "I think he's got the material."

The Scotsman also praised the "desire and determination" that Carragher showed when he was a player.
