Stewart Downing has admitted that he has found it difficult not to be featuring on a regular basis for Liverpool.
The England international has not had the impact the Anfield faithful desired since joining in a £20m deal from Aston Villa last summer.
Under Brendan Rodgers this campaign, Downing's appearances have largely been limited to the Europa League and the 28-year-old has conceded that he is frustrated by his lack of game time.
"It has been frustrating at times and I have been disappointed this season not to have played more games," said Downing in The Sun.
"But I am just trying to do my best when I play and to get a goal. It is a great club to play for. Hopefully it long continues."
Downing has yet to score a Premier League goal for the Reds in 43 matches.
