Sven-Goran Eriksson believes that Steven Gerrard will have to leave Liverpool if he wants to win the Premier League before his playing career is over.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has claimed that Steven Gerrard will need to leave Liverpool if he wants to win the Premier League as a player.

Gerrard has won a number of trophies during his time at Anfield but Eriksson believes that the Reds skipper will not enjoy success in the league unless he seeks a move from Merseyside.

Eriksson said: "I don't begrudge a good guy like Steven winning the Premier League.

"But maybe he needs to change clubs if he wants to win that title.

"The question is whether he will ever win a Premier League title? As things look now, absolutely not."

Gerrard signed a long-term deal to remain at Liverpool earlier this year.
