Fernandinho: 'Anfield crowd won't scare me'

Liverpool's home crowd will not be a worry for Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has insisted that the prospect of facing a raucous home support at Anfield won't faze him when his side take on Liverpool.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers told a press conference on Friday that he wanted to unleash the crowd on City during their crucial Premier League encounter on Sunday, but the Brazilian star believes that he has faced more hostile crowd playing in South America.

He told the The Mirror: "Liverpool have obviously never played in the Copa Libertadores.

"When you play in the Copa Libertadores and you go to Chile, Paraguay, Argentina and Ecuador, as you approach the stadium, you get attacked from all sides with stones, sticks and wooden posts. That's a bit different.

"When I was in Brazil once, we went to play a game against Vasco Da Gama in Rio de Janeiro. The access to the stadium was a very tight road, just enough for a vehicle to go down and we got a huge stone thrown through the window of our bus."

City trail Liverpool by four points in the Premier League table, but have two games in hand on their rival.
