Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that the players cannot wait to begin their pre-season tour this summer.
The Reds left Liverpool John Lennon airport on Tuesday as they made their trip to Indonesia before the visits to Thailand and Australia towards the end of the month.
Brendan Rodgers's side begin their tour with a game against an Indonesian XI on Saturday, before matches against Melbourne Victory on July 24 and the Thailand national team on July 28.
Gerrard claimed that the club are looking forward to visiting their fans in the Southern Hemisphere and said that he is acutely aware of what their presence means to the fans in those countries.
"All the lads are excited and can't wait to get over there," Gerrard told the club's official website.
"Luckily this year we're going to Asia and Australia and that's great. I'm really looking forward to the three places we're going to be visiting and it'll be great to spend some time with our supporters over there.
"They don't get to see us in the flesh very often. I think all the players realise that we have to give something back when we're over there and spend as much time as we can with them, try to get some wins and perform well for them."
Gerrard, who recently returned to full training following a shoulder operation, signed a two-year contract extension with the Reds on Monday.
