Ray Houghton predicts big summer for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton predicts an important summer ahead for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp following a run to two cup finals in his first season.

Former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton has predicted an important summer ahead for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp following a first season that saw the club reach two cup finals.

The Anfield outfit came within a game of winning both the League Cup and the Europa League trophies, though on both occasions they were thwarted, by Manchester City and Sevilla respectively.

Houghton, who played for Liverpool between 1987 and 1992, told the official club website: "If you get to one [final] in a season, it's normally pretty good. But to get to two – and particularly a European one as well – there have been a lot of good signs.

"It's a big summer for Jurgen Klopp. I think every Liverpool fan has been waiting for this moment because this is when he's going to put his stamp on the team.

"Everyone is interested in who he brings to the club. Who are the additions to Liverpool that are going to make the changes for next season?"

Klopp has a proven track record of winning trophies, having brought two Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal to Borussia Dortmund.
