Liverpool striker Danny Ings: 'First England call-up means the world to me'

Liverpool striker Danny Ings says that it feels "unbelievable" to be included in the senior England squad for the first time.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has admitted his disbelief in being called up to the senior England squad for the first time.

The former Burnley forward was yesterday named in the 24-man squad for upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania.

The 23-year-old has revealed that he did not expect to be part of the setup and so had organised a trip to visit his family in Southampton, which has now swiftly been cancelled.

"It means the world to me," Ings told the Liverpool Echo. "It was my dream as a kid to get the call and now I've got the call it is unbelievable.

"It is a huge boost for me as a player and for my career so I'll take great confidence from that moving forward. I'm over the moon about it."

Ings, who signed for Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer, has scored two goals in all competitions so far this season.
