Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: 'I am no genius'

Manager Jurgen Klopp insists that he is not a "genius" who has a long-term plan for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he does not have a long-term vision of what his Liverpool side should look like.

The Reds have gone from strength to strength under the German - who replaced Brendan Rodgers in October - and now sit six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City as the buzz surrounding a title bid increases.

Nevertheless, Klopp, who won two Bundesliga crowns during his spell at Borussia Dortmund, concedes that he is taking his Liverpool revolution one game at a time.

"We didn't have a Dortmund plan and say, 'OK, give us three years and we'll win the German title'. We don't have that plan here either," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"We just always try to learn and understand more about the players. It is not our job to find a new way to play football. For this you need a genius and we are not.

"We try to make the best with the players we have and at this moment we don't know what is best. We only know about the way to go. There are another 30, 35 games to go this season and I don't know how long it will take and I don't think about that."

Liverpool, who have won at Chelsea and City already under Klopp, visit struggling Newcastle United on Sunday.
