Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool will improve, but I will not dream about title'

Jurgen Klopp insists that winning the Premier League is not his priority yet, but warns that Liverpool will only get better.

Jurgen Klopp has warned the Premier League that Liverpool will only improve, but stressed that winning the title is not on his to-do list this season.

The Reds built on their excellent recent form by smashing Southampton 6-1 at St Mary's on Wednesday to progress into the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.

With six points separating them and top-of-the-table Manchester City, Klopp was quizzed on whether he had bigger prizes in mind, but the German, whose side sit sixth, insists that he is not getting carried away.

"I don't think about this," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror when asked about a title charge. "People can talk about this but we just have to play football.

"We don't have any ideas yet about where we can get to – it's a fantastic football club and everyone here loves working at this club and everything is really good.

"But you need to have luck with injuries to be challenging, so we can't get carried away and look too far forward – we are only in sixth place. That is all we look at and that is what football is all about. We know we can get better, and we know there is still a long way to go."

Liverpool, who have won away to champions Chelsea and City in recent weeks, scoring seven goals along the way, visit struggling Newcastle United on Sunday.
