Liverpool defender Martin Kelly says that he 'fears the worst' for a knee injury that he picked up during Liverpool's defeat to Manchester United yesterday.

Liverpool defender Martin Kelly has admitted that he expects the "worst" following a scan on his knee.

The Reds full-back was forced to retire from the field within the last five minutes of Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United yesterday, leaving Brendan Rodgers's side down to nine men following Jonjo Shelvey's red card in the first half.

Kelly tweeted: "Hoping for the best but fearing the worst :( got my scan at 8 then will let you guys know."

Meanwhile, the Mersyeside outfit could be without defender Daniel Agger for the rest of the season after the Denmark international was stretchered off in the second half.
