Ronald Koeman: 'Jurgen Klopp must get used to Premier League intensity'

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman suggests that new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may be surprised by the intensity of the Premier League.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has suggested that Jurgen Klopp may be surprised by the level of intensity involved with Premier League football.

The Dutchman admits that it is a tough competition to get used to, something which his Liverpool counterpart may not have factored into his reckoning when taking the Anfield reins.

"What might surprise Klopp? Every weekend it's very intense," Koeman told reporters at Friday's press conference.

"You don't have a lot of difference between the clubs. You have to play at a good level to win every game. You can lose against everybody. You can win against everybody.

"If you stay one year as manager you realise it is a tough competition. There is no Christmas break and you need a full squad for that."

Koeman also stated that the former Borussia Dortmund coach needs to be given time to turn things around for the Reds, ahead of the Saints' trip to Anfield on Sunday.
