Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has insisted that the club are fully behind striker Luis Suarez following the recent handball controversy.
The 25-year-old handled in the penalty area before scoring the winning goal in the Reds' 2-1 win over Mansfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Following the incident, the former Ajax forward was criticised for his actions but Ayre believes that Suarez wont be 'affected' by it.
"There have been plenty of decisions which have gone against Luis this season," the Irish Independent quotes Ayre as saying.
"These things seem to follow Luis around and it's unfortunate, but he has our full support. He's a fantastic player who makes a huge contribution to the club. Knowing Luis, it won't affect him as he's a very strong character."
Meanwhile, the Merseyside club have announced that defender Andre Wisdom has signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.
