Liverpool reportedly prepare to open talks over a new contract for manager Jurgen Klopp, who is open to staying on beyond the summer of 2024.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to open talks with Jurgen Klopp over the possibility of extending his stay at Anfield beyond the summer of 2024.

The 54-year-old's current terms are due to expire in just over two years' time, and he previously stated that he planned to take a break from football once his Merseyside contract ran out.

However, The Times now reports that Liverpool are desperate to keep Klopp at the helm for a little while longer as the German coach fights for a quadruple in the final weeks of the 2021-22 season.

The report adds that Klopp would be open to remaining at the club for a few more years, and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon has earmarked a new contract for the German as a priority.

Klopp would supposedly want assistants Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz to stay on if he is to sign a new deal at Liverpool, who are hopeful of keeping the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss on for at least another four years.

Klopp has won the Premier League, Champions League, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup during his time in charge of the Reds and was also named the World's Best Club Coach in 2019 and 2020.

The former Mainz striker and defender has now taken charge of 373 games for Liverpool - winning 229 of them - and he can supposedly expect an increase on his yearly £10m salary if he stays on at Anfield.
