Liverpool's Luis Suarez risks a suspension by appearing to bite Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in the arm.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has caused more controversy this afternoon by appearing to bite Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm during the ongoing encounter between the two teams at Anfield.

The incident happened as the two battled for possession inside the Chelsea penalty area in front of The Kop.

Suarez seemed to take exception to Ivanovic's attempt to shield the ball out of play and having grabbed the Chelsea player, it looked as though he then sunk his teeth into the Serbian's arm.

Despite a protest from Ivanovic, no action was taken by referee Kevin Friend, who appeared to have his view obstructed.

The Uruguayan has previous record when it comes to this sort of offence, having been given a seven-game ban back in 2010 for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal during his time in the Netherlands with Ajax.

He also served an eight-match suspension in 2011 for racially abusing Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra.
