Roberto Martinez is to meet the Liverpool owners to discuss the vacant managerial position within the next 36 hours, according to reports.
The 38-year-old has been chased by the Reds since Kenny Dalglish was sacked as manager earlier this month.
Martinez, who is also rumoured to be a target for Aston Villa, has been set a seven-day deadline by Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan.
However, that does not seem to be a problem, with Sky Sports News reporting that the Spaniard will hold talks with the Liverpool hierarchy within the next 24-36 hours.
