Kenny Dalglish coy over Steven Gerrard's Liverpool comeback

Kenny Dalglish says that Liverpool will not announce a return date for Steven Gerrard, but admits that they are "happy" with his recovery from an ankle infection.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has refused to announce a date for Steven Gerrard's return to the first team as the player recovers from an ankle infection.

The Reds skipper has had a troublesome start to the season after suffering an injury setback only weeks after returning from a six-month layoff.

While there is no inkling as to when the England international will set foot on the playing field, Dalglish insists that the 31-year-old is progressing well.

"Like we've already said, we are delighted with the progress he's making and we've said that we won't put a date on his return - and we won't put a date on it now," said Dalglish. "We are very happy with his progress."

The Liverpool legend also commented on reports that goal-line technology could be implemented next season in the Premier League.

"I think anything that can help get the proper decisions made is going to be very well received," he added.

The Merseyside club face league leaders Manchester City at Anfield this Sunday.
