Michael Owen: 'Steven Gerrard will bounce back from disappointment'

Former England international Michael Owen believes that Steven Gerrard will have no problem recovering from his disappointing end to the season to lead England in the World Cup.

Former England international Michael Owen has insisted that Steven Gerrard will bounce back in the World Cup from his disappointing end to the Premier League season.

Gerrard made a crucial error in Liverpool's defeat to Chelsea which lost them the top-flight title as Manchester City made a late surge to steal the crown from under the nose of Brendan Rodgers's side.

"I don't think you get to the top of your profession like Steven has done over the years without being able to bounce back from disappointments," Owen told reporters.

"Steven hasn't turned into a different player overnight, he has had a fantastic season and all the Liverpool players who are going to the World Cup will be full of confidence."

Gerrard scored 13 goals for the Reds in the Premier League last season.
