Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hails new signing Iago Aspas after the striker scored one goal and made another in his side's 3-0 win over Thailand yesterday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the impact new signing Iago Aspas has had since joining the club.

Aspas scored one goal and made another as Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 win over Thailand in the final match of their pre-season tour of the Far East yesterday.

While Rodgers admits that Aspas is not always the best player to watch, he praises the 25-year-old striker's effectiveness on the field.

"There was real quality in the final third. I thought that part of our game, on a difficult pitch and in that heat, was very good. Some of our football was fluent and the movement was clever. We have some outstanding talents who can make the difference," he told reporters.

"The idea was that Aspas would give us another dimension up there and he's done that. He's a very effective player. Sometimes he's not always easy on the eye but when you actually monitor how efficient he is - he creates goals and scores goals.

"It was a lovely touch into space by him for his goal and he finished really well. Then he showed good vision to set up Stevie, who finished magnificently."

Liverpool's next pre-season match comes against Olympiakos in Steven Gerrard's testimonial for the club.
