Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has spent the night in a police cell after being arrested on suspicion of assault.
Sterling was arrested by Merseyside Police in the Page Moss area at 10.30pm on Thursday night, with police deciding to detain the 18-year-old for further questioning.
The England international will appear in court later today to answer the alleged assault charges, according to the Daily Mail.
Earlier this year Sterling had a charge of common assault dismissed, with the teenager acquitted after two key witnesses failed to appear at Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates' Court on May 20.
