Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling has revealed that he is happy to learn the new role that he was given by manager Brendan Rodgers away at Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.
To incorporate new signing Mario Balotelli, who partnered Daniel Sturridge up front, Sterling was deployed at the tip of a midfield diamond by the Liverpool boss.
He responded by scoring his side's opening goal in what would be a 3-0 win for the Reds at White Hart Lane.
"[My role today] is different to something I have done but it is something I have to learn. Mario Balotelli and Daniel Sturridge up front is always a threat and I have just got to be in and around the area and be a threat," he told Sky Sports News.
The goal was Sterling's second of the season following his opening-day strike against Southampton.
