Neil Warnock: 'Only money will keep Raheem Sterling at Liverpool'

Neil Warnock believes that Raheem Sterling will leave Liverpool if he is not offered the wages that he wants in a new contract.

Former Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock believes that only a hike in wages will keep Raheem Sterling at Liverpool.

The England international has been linked with a big-money move away from Anfield due to an impasse in contract negotiations.

The 20-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal, but reports have claimed that the youngster would reject an offer of £180,000 per week.

It has been suggested that the Reds will be willing to sell Sterling should they fail to reach an agreement, but Warnock believes that they will need to pay up to keep him.

"I'm sure they don't want him to go," Warnock told talkSPORT. "You can't get players like that, you just can't find them without spending multi-millions, so you've got to try to keep him.

"They talk about age and say you can't give young lads too much money at that age and things like that, but this is a new world and if you don't give them the money, they're off."

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Arsenal have all been linked with moves for Sterling.
