Dave Whelan: No Liverpool approach for Roberto Martinez

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan claims that Liverpool have not approached Roberto Martinez over the vacant manager's job at Anfield.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has claimed that the club has had no approach from Liverpool for manager Roberto Martinez.

The Reds have already begun their search for a new boss following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish on Wednesday afternoon.

"At this moment in time, there has been no approach from Liverpool or any other club for Roberto Martinez," Whelan told Sky Sports News.

Whelan recently denied rumours that Martinez had been contacted by Aston Villa over their vacant manager's position.
