Liverpool 1-2 Roma

Liverpool are beaten 2-1 by Roma in their pre-season friendly at Fenway Park in Boston.

Liverpool have been beaten 2-1 by Roma in tonight's pre-season friendly at Fenway Park in Boston.

Roma midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis had a great chance to give his side the lead after only seven minutes but he somehow fired straight at Peter Gulacsi after being put through on goal.

Jonjo Shelvey was denied twice by Roma goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț, while Joe Cole hit the top of the crossbar with a lob just before the half-time whistle.

The Italians took the lead after the hour as new signing Michael Bradley turned his marker before firing low past Brad Jones.

It was 2-0 with 20 minutes to play thanks to substitute Alessandro Florenzi's finish from close range.

Brendan Rodgers's side cut the deficit on 79 minutes through Charlie Adam's sweeping shot before Erik Lamela saw his effort come back off the woodwork.
