Sadio Mane: 'Liverpool need perfect end to season to win title'

Liverpool are two points clear of Manchester City but have played a game more than the defending champions.

Sadio Mane believes Liverpool need to win all six of their remaining games to have a chance of lifting the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp's men moved two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table after beating Tottenham 2-1 on Sunday, with Toby Alderweireld's last-gasp own goal deciding the clash at Anfield.

However, with City still having a game in hand, the destiny of the title remains in the hands of the reigning champions and Liverpool could yet fall agonisingly short in a remarkable season in which they have lost only once so far.

Mane admits there is no margin for error now, saying: "To be honest I think we need to win all of the games, even if it will not be easy.

"But we still can win every game because we are a good team and we play very well."

Liverpool's clincher against Spurs was the third time this season the Reds have scored a winner in the 90th minute or later, and it came after the ball deflected in off Alderweireld following a Hugo Lloris error.

Asked whether it felt like fate was playing a role in Liverpool's quest to win a first title since 1990, Mane added: "To be honest I don't know because we have a few more games to go. But it's a good sign.

"That's what makes you more motivated and makes everyone say 'Let's go, we can do it' so I think it's always important.

"This is a very good sign and I think everything is possible so let's do it and win it."

Mane may not have found the net against Tottenham but he has scored 13 goals in his last 18 matches for Liverpool, having netted just three in his 17 games before this current run.

The Senegal international has taken the burden off team-mate Mohamed Salah, whose eight-game goalless run is by far the worst of his short Liverpool career.

"That's football; sometimes you score, sometimes not. It can happen," Mane said.

"But we don't forget that it's all about the team. When the team is winning, that's more important."
