Manchester City have allegedly made Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling their primary transfer target this summer.
The Sky Blues could be made to pay up to £50m for the England international, according to the Daily Mail.
The report speculates that City may offer one or more of their players to Liverpool as a makeweight in the deal, but the Reds are expected to hold out for the full amount in cash.
Sterling - who was recently involved in controversy when photos of him smoking a shisha pipe and inhaling nitrous oxide appeared online - is believed to be unsettled at Anfield, with contract talks now on hold.
However, Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has said that he expects the youngster to remain at the club for a "long time".
