Danny Mills: 'Liverpool should target Sane instead of Traore'

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills claims that Leroy Sane would be a "more realistic" transfer target for Liverpool than £70m-rated Wolves winger Adama Traore.

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has claimed that Leroy Sane would be a "more realistic" target for Liverpool than Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.

Sane has not played since the Community Shield against Liverpool in August last year, when he picked up a serious knee ligament injury which has kept him out for the entire 2019-20 campaign so far.

The Germany international has been heavily tipped to join Bayern Munich when the transfer window reopens, but Mills believes that Liverpool should be in for him instead of targeting Wolves' Traore.

"Adama Traore makes a lot of headlines because of his pace and power but to step into a title-winning side, to replace somebody like Sadio Mane or [Mohamed] Salah – I do not think he is there yet," Mills told Football Insider.

"Somebody like Leroy Sane – possibly. He is coming back from injury and has been linked with a move away recently and could be surplus to requirements.

"He is young, a great talent and has experience. That would be more realistic but I do not know if Manchester City would sell to rivals."

Wolves are understood to have slapped a £70m price tag on Traore's head in an attempt to ward off interest from the Premier League leaders.
