Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp insists that the Reds will strengthen their squad in the coming weeks.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the Reds will strengthen their squad before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

The Merseyside giants have made two signings during the current window, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.

However, there have already been four midfield departures this summer, with Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving on free transfers, while Fabio Carvalho has joined Leipzig on loan.

Arthur has also returned to Juventus following an unsuccessful loan spell, and there is currently speculation surrounding the futures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Both players are thought to be closing in on moves to the Saudi Pro League, which would leave Liverpool arguably needing to make another two midfield signings.

Klopp has said that his main focus is currently on "the training sessions", but the German has insisted that there will be more incomings at Anfield in the not too distant future.

"My main focus and my main energy has to go into the training sessions; that's what I do," he told reporters. "The time left and right of the sessions then I can try and sort other stuff, and that's what we are doing.

"Still around three to four weeks until the first game of the season, a few things have to happen until then. Definitely. Transfer market-wise as well, that's clear now. It will happen, and we will have a good team."

Liverpool started their preparations for the 2023-24 Premier League campaign with a 4-2 victory over Karlsruhe last Wednesday, and they will be back in action against Greuther Furth on Monday.

The Reds will then take on Leicester City, Bayern Munich and Darmstadt in their final three friendlies of the summer before starting their Premier League campaign against Chelsea on August 13.

Southampton's Romeo Lavia, Crystal Palace's Cheick Doucoure, Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat and Nice's Khephren Thuram are among the midfielders to be linked with moves to Anfield.

Roberto Firmino has also left Liverpool this summer to make the move to Al-Ahli on a free transfer, while Sepp van den Berg, Calvin Ramsey and Rhys Williams have all left on loan.

The Reds will be bidding to improve on a disappointing 2022-23 campaign in the coming season.

Last term, Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League table, missing out on Champions League qualification in the process, while they were eliminated in the fourth round of both the FA Cup and EFL Cup, in addition to being knocked out in the Champions League round of 16.
