Liverpool are ready to sell two first-team players before the summer transfer window closes, according to a report.

The Reds have already bid farewell to Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on free transfers, while Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsey and Rhys Williams have left the club on loan.

Following the exits of Milner, Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jurgen Klopp has begun a midfield refresh at Anfield, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister joining the club from RB Leipzig and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively for a combined fee close to £100m.

Liverpool remain in the market for midfield reinforcements, with Southampton's Romeo Lavia believed to be high on their list of targets.

The 19-year-old is expected to leave St Mary's after just one season following the club's relegation from the Premier League, and the Saints are said to value the midfielder at £50m.

Celta Vigo's Gabri Veiga and Real Madrid's Federico Valderde are two more midfielders said to be on Liverpool's radar, while Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa is also wanted by the Reds.

Klopp is also believed to be exploring the possibility of signing a new central defender, but if the German is to make a couple more statement signings this summer, Football Insider reports that two first-team players could be sold to balance their books.

The report adds that the most likely first-team player to depart is midfielder Thiago Alcantara who has less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

The 32-year-old is understood to have turned down a lucrative offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club, while Turkish champions Galatasaray have recently expressed their interest in the Spain international.

Liverpool are believed to be open to cashing in on Thiago, who has featured 97 times under Klopp across all competitions over the last three seasons, but there is no desire to lose the midfielder on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, captain Jordan Henderson has been tipped to reunite with Reds legend Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabian with Al-Ettifaq this summer, but the 33-year-old is allegedly reluctant to move to the Middle East.

Star attacker Mohamed Salah has also attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, and a recent report claims that Liverpool would be required to part ways with the Egyptian if they wish to pursue a move for Chiesa this summer.

However, is thought that Salah has no plans to leave Anfield any time soon after extending his contract until 2025 last summer.
