Liverpool 'beating Manchester United in Adam Lallana race'

Manchester United could lose out to Liverpool in the race to sign Adam Lallana, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly set to edge out Manchester United in the race to sign Southampton star Adam Lallana this summer.

Lallana's displays for the Saints have not only earned him a breakthrough into the England team, but have also seen the 25-year-old attract interest from a number of high-profile clubs.

However, The People claims that Premier League leaders have put forward an offer that would see the midfielder pocket £50,000 per week if he moves to Anfield.

United are keen to sign Lallana and left-back Luke Shaw, with whom they have been heavily linked, as they begin an expected rebuilding of their squad at the end of the season.

Lallana featured in Southampton's 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
